Chicago next week!

I think I'm ready for marathon #21.

Humpty Dumpty is (mostly) back to together after 9 weeks of recovery work.

I have been consistently running with no pain during or after...The rolling ball treatment of the sole of my foot shoes me that the healing is going well. I have also been doing heel drops off a stair and been getting much more flexible and strong there as well.

After about 6 miles of running I can feel my PF muscle, but it's a very minor thing and not changing my form at all. I have done runs up to 10 miles with no problem but figure I should not push my luck so nothing further. I will bring a small plastic basin as I'm sure I'll need to do icing after 26.2 miles.

The plan is to flip the switch from 'sport' mode to 'touring' mode and just enjoy the day, targeting a pace that should be about 5 hours. I'll  mix in a bit of walking just to make sure I don't go out too fast.  The goal is to finish the distance with a foot that is still on the mend and not horribly messed up, so easy does it.

The forecast is perfect: cloudy and cool. Nice! Also snagged a reservation at a nice Italian resto near the hotel for Saturday night.

  2. You have a great attitude and glad you've been dedicated to the recovery. Unlike me after 6 wks went backwards a little. Chicago course is flat and there's terrific support the entire course! Much luck!!!
