6:45 Mile!?

No, not ME.... my nephew! (Not the smarty pants one, a younger, less obnoxious one ..)..he's 9 years old and ran a 6:45 mile on July 4th with his Dad.

He's a sporty kid...baseball, basketball, tennis, etc. Perhaps track is also in his future!

The day was HOT (low 90's) and somewhat humid.

He spent the rest of the day running around as per normal but did skip his tennis lesson the next day ;)

I'm curious, how many of you could run a 6:45 mile at age 9?

  1. Wow, that is amazing!

Suffice to say that if he keeps at track and doesn't lose interest, he will likely run some phenomenal track times in junior high and high school.

I wish I would have wrote down my mile times during elementary and junior high school - I think I got like a 6:30 mile time in my first track race in junior high (age 13). No way I was as fast as your nephew though, I guarantee that he is the fastest person in his class, haha

  4. I think heat becomes a factor about age 11 - that's when mine all started complaining about it! :)

Congrats to your nephew, that is really amazing!
