Being a half marathoner I've never seen what the rest of the course looks like before!

And those cars with their side mirrors... Frankly - if I lived there I think I'd move my car just to spare it from losing a mirror due to the runners clipping it. I spent a lot of that first stretch twisting to avoid hitting them and avoid crashing into runners on the other side of me!Fruit Flyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10747205899650070873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1109090155728755589.post-74351831874461253122012-04-30T17:35:25.472-07:002012-04-30T17:35:25.472-07:00Congrats on the PR and hitting your goal, so fanta...Congrats on the PR and hitting your goal, so fantastic! I appreciate all the comparisons to CIM, as I hope to run that one some year.
Also, I find it interesting to read your course details. I agree that the halfers really missed out on the river stretch of the run. Nice shot of the footbridge!
What's this i read about triathlon? Going from a different surface every couple miles between the parks sounds good to me, this is how I think your legs can be saved since your body likes variation. And the hills didn't sound terrible, but definitely a factor. Good to have some hills for your body to use different muscles, but seems like Eugene might have a few too many rolling hills?

Tremendous effort at the end, looks like you were really redlining your heart rate!

Congrats on the PR - well earned!Nellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11613262056157769496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1109090155728755589.post-40000475419566384462012-04-30T14:21:02.133-07:002012-04-30T14:21:02.133-07:00Congratulations Paul...that is a fantastic time! I know you could have held onto those earlier paces at the end had the hills not tuckered you out some, they can be so mentally taxing that eventually they play at the psyche. You did a fantastic job and I am sooo happy for you! :)

Loved getting the picture from Amanda on my phone :).

I wondered what happened to Raina's time, it was not listed in the results nor could I find her all morning. Makes sense now. I LOVE to crunch up my bib before I plaster it to my shorts, but have had to be very careful about that on those bibs with the timing chips embedded in them. I hear there are a lot more non-tracking issues with these things so I wonder if they'll keep using them. Or redesign them somehow.

Anyway, great job again, Paul! You worked so hard for this and the PR is well-deserved!!! I could certainly relate to most of it.

I would love to meet Meb at one of these marathons someday. When you mentioned he was there, the first thing to my mind was you only wrote out his last initial 'K'. Is that because you didn't want to look up how to spell his last name? lol. That's happened to me. Sometimes I focus on weird things from a post. :-)

Congrats again on the PR.
